At Sandlin Homes, we love everything about our dogs, taking them on walks, playing fetch in the yard, and barking at the mailman…Ahem, we mean quick walks to the mailbox! However, the HOT Texas Summers can make those activities unsafe for our pets, so we are sharing a list of some of our favorite spots to cool off with our playful pooches.

Lakeside Dog Parks (Off-Leash Swimming)

White Rock Lake Dog Park (Dallas): Features a dedicated, fenced-in Dog Launch area with direct lake access. It provides a great view of the lake, separate big and small dog paddocks, and dog wash comfort stations.

North Bark Dog Park (North Dallas): Spans over 22 acres and features a gated swimming pond. Pups can swim off leash, explore the trails, and use the on-site dog showers to rinse off before heading home.

ZBonz Dog Park (Fort Worth): A massive park built on a former golf course that includes a fenced fountain pond built specifically for large dogs to swim. It also features separate sections for small dogs.

Public Lakes and Beaches (Leashed Swimming)

Lake Park at Lewisville Lake (Lewisville): Offers a sandy, dog-friendly beach. Admission is $10 per car, and dogs are welcome to swim and splash as long as they stay friendly and remain on a leash.

Marine Creek Lake (Fort Worth): A quiet, 250-acre no-wake lake that features calm, clean waters. It is highly accessible with a nice swimming area located right by the free boat ramp.

Doggy Splash Pads and Water Parks

Bark Park at Bear Creek Park (Grapevine): Features a large, motion-activated splash pad built on artificial turf. It also offers shade structures, agility equipment, and self-serve dog wash stations.

Barney Wood Bark Park (Farmers Branch): A clean, double-gated park equipped with built-in splash pads in both the large and small dog areas to help pups cool down during the summer heat.

Private and Resort Pools

Paw Oasis Pet Resort (North Dallas): If you want to avoid natural lakes and ponds, this facility features a resort-style dog pool with beach entry, splash fountains, and life vest rentals for supervised swim daycare.

Swimply & Sniffspot: Apps that allow you to rent private, fully fenced backyards with pools by the hour across the DFW metroplex. This provides a safe, completely private environment for dogs that are anxious or selective around other dogs.
