COMMUNITY INFO: Located just off I-35W and SH-114, Seventeen Lakes is convenient to outstanding cities such as Fort Worth, Dallas, Denton, Justin, Roanoke, Southlake and Grapevine just to name a few. Shopping, restaurants and entertainment are only minutes away whether you travel I-35 north or south, or SH-114 east. For you music buffs and college age students, the city of Denton offers a lively atmosphere with a college student population of 40,000 plus. And since the University of North Texas has an outstanding music department, live music venues (primarily jazz) are featured throughout the city, especially at the annual free 2 ½ day Denton Arts and Jazz Festival held each April. Southlake and Grapevine offer up classic North Central Texas Heritage with town squares, annual festivals, major shopping venues, and plenty of restaurants to satisfy any appetite. For the air commuters, destination DFW International Airport is close by within a short 30 minute ride to the north entrance. Primary education is provided by the highly ranked and sought after Northwest Independent School District. Northwest ISD is currently exploring opportunities to build an elementary school within the subdivision, and a middle school along Litsey Rd. across from the entrance to Seventeen Lakes. Beginning in the Fall of 2009, freshman and sophomore students will attend the brand new, state of the art school located in Trophy Club which is only minutes away. Following the inauguration year, juniors will attend the following year, with seniors attending the 3rd year the school is in operation. Higher learning is easily obtained in the nearby Denton colleges of the University of North Texas, named one of the best 100 colleges in the nation for 10 consecutive years, and Texas Woman’s University, which ranks ninth in the nation for doctoral degrees awarded in the health sciences, and produces more new nurses than any other program in the state of Texas. Even though Texas Woman’s University occupies a notable position in higher education as the nation’s largest university primarily for women, TWU also welcomes men in their fold. For those that would prefer stay close to home, Northwest High School is now a satellite campus for North Central Texas College in the evenings for select college course work.
