COMMUNITY INFO: Located just south of Hwy. 380 on SH 423 between the lakeside town of Little Elm and the booming city of Frisco is the community of Frisco Ranch. Frisco Ranch offers numerous amenities such as an amenity center and community pool, hiking and biking trails winding through greenbelt areas, recreation areas which include a soccer field and volleyball courts, a park with a catch and release fishing pond, covered picnic areas, and playground equipment. Located nearby are entertainment venues, shopping, and restaurants located within an easy drive to Denton, Frisco, Plano and North Dallas. Higher learning is easily obtained in the nearby colleges of The University of North Texas in Denton, Texas Women’s University in Denton, or Collin County Community College Preston Ridge Campus in Frisco. 2008 is expected to bring a vital east west route through Little Elm as the Lewisville Lake Toll Bridge is completed, connecting Interstate Highway 35E on the west to the Dallas North Tollway on the east, via Eldorado Parkway, through the center of Little Elm. The Dallas North Tollway and SH-121 are minutes away, making Frisco Ranch easily accessible to downtown Dallas, DFW Airport, and Dallas Love Field. A wealth of shopping opportunity is offered in nearby Frisco and includes Stonebriar Centre (one of the best shopping malls in the Southwest), the Centre at Preston Ridge, Ikea (the world’s leading home furnishings retailer and the first store of its kind in the Metroplex), along with many other unique shopping and dining experiences on Frisco’s downtown Main Street. For the sports buffs, Frisco offers the Frisco Rough Riders, a Texas Rangers AA Minor League Baseball team that plays in the Dr. Pepper Ballpark (named in 2003 as the best new ballpark in baseball by baseballparks.com.) When not watching baseball, enjoy the Texas Tornado Junior ‘A’ Ice Hockey of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) at the Dr. Pepper Star Center in Frisco, or cheer on the FC Dallas in a local Major League Soccer match at the Pizza Hut Park in Frisco (which also serves to host concerts, public entertainment and community events.) The Superdrome Velodrome is a 2,200 seat stadium featuring a 250 meter, 44 degree banking inclined track. Located at the Collin County Community College Preston Ridge Campus, it is an Olympic certified cycling track and is considered one of the fastest low altitude outdoor tracks in the world. For those that wish to test their strength and endurance, Canyons is a state of the art indoor climbing facility for all ages and abilities, located across from the new Pizza Hut Park. Little Elm, on the shores of Lewisville Lake, offers it’s own unique blend of recreation and enjoyment. The city has built a new outdoor amphitheater with sunset views of the lake, a lake trail system that will eventually connect all parts of town, a new four-plex baseball complex, a new sand beach and volleyball complex, new outdoor pavilions, playground equipment, and lakeside camping and RV sites. Add this to old-fashioned festivals, cooking contests, heritage events, annual music by the lake, 5K runs along the lake shores, and fireworks all the time, and you have a combination that is sure to please most everyone. Frisco is also home to a diverse performing and fine arts community, including the Frisco Chorale, the Frisco Community Theatre, and the Frisco Association for the Arts. Word of Mouth Productions is a performing company for churches, women’s groups and other organizations with Creative/Dramatic Arts ministries. These groups are very active in Frisco and offer many creative outlets for Frisco residents. For you music buffs and college age students, the city of Denton offers a lively atmosphere with a college student population of 40,000 plus. And since the University of North Texas has an outstanding music department, live music venues (primarily jazz) are featured throughout the city, especially at the annual free 2 ½ day Denton Arts and Jazz Festival held each April. Whether it’s staying at home tending a garden, fishing or skiing on Lake Lewisville, or any other myriad of other activities close by, Frisco Ranch is a treasure of a community to live in.
